STREET NAME The Lauriergracht, as part of the Jordaan, was constructed after 1612 during one of Amsterdam's major city expansions, the so-called Derde Uitleg. Before 1612, this area was home to the Kaatsbaanpad, which, along with the three chamois leather mills located there, had to make way for the city expansion.
